RING 2 – START 9AM
All stallions & colts 2 years old & over must be suitably bitted & led by a handler that has attained their 14th birthday before 1st January of the current year & should display a stallion/colt bridle disc.
SHETLAND
• Classes must be confined to SPS-BS registered ponies. Ponies must be named on the entry form and in the catalogue if one is produced. Society rosettes must only be given to ponies registered with the Society or to foals eligible for registration.
• Three-year-old fillies with foals at foot may not be shown. All foals must be a minimum of three weeks old on the day of the Show.
• To enter a stallion in ANY class (in-hand or performance) at an affiliated show, entire males aged 4 years old and over must have an “S” number and have been successfully through either the SPS-BS Stallion assessment prior to 2006 or the current SPS-BS Voluntary Veterinary Examination. Ridden stallions MUST display a stallion bridle badge. In hand colts/stallions of two years old or over must be shown bitted and are advised to display a colt or stallion bridle badge, these are available to purchase from the SPS-BS.
• There must be no colts or stallions in Young Handlers classes. Young Handlers must be a minimum of 3 years of age on the day of the show. Children under 14 years old may not show colts (excluding foals) or Stallions in In-hand classes. Children aged under 12 years old on the day of their class may not show a stallion in ridden classes. In the interests of safety, hard hats conforming to current British Safety standards must be worn, correctly secured, by all handlers aged 14 years or under in In-hand classes. For Health & Safety purposes judges and exhibitors must remain standing whilst in the ring when showing ponies. KNEELING IS NOT PERMITTED. Hard hats conforming to current British Safety standards must be worn, correctly secured, by all exhibitors, irrespective of age, in ridden classes. Ridden and driven ponies must be 4 years old or over. In ridden Classes, if a rider falls off at any time whilst in the ring, both pony and rider must leave the ring, rider dismounted and take no further part.

Qualifications to go no lower than 4th place. This can be either mixed M. & M. or Breed Classes. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following:
I Won an open affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
Ii Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, LIHS or RIHS Open M&M Ridden classes
Iii Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show and the NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Stud Novice Finals (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided, they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year).
iv. If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, LIHS or RIHS in its second year it is de-noviced and cannot compete in the Kilmannan Final at Scone Palace.

NPS SCOTLAND/KILMANNAN STUD NOVICE RIDDEN MOUNTAIN AND MOORLAND CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2 highest placed ponies, not already qualified, in each class will qualify for the Final which will take place at the Scone Palace International Horse Trials on Friday 22nd August 2025. Qualifications to go no lower than 4th place. This can be either mixed M & M or Breed Classes. A pony is not eligible to compete if, before 1st January in the current year, it has done any of the following:
I Won an open affiliated mixed M&M Ridden class
Ii Qualified for Horse of the Year Show, LIHS or RIHS Open M&M Ridden classes
Iii Qualified for the M&M Novice or Intermediate Ridden final at the NPS Summer Championship show and the NPS Scotland/Kilmannan Stud Novice Finals (N.B. Ponies can compete as novices in this competition for two consecutive years provided they do not submit an entry to the final in the first year).
Iv If a pony qualifies for Horse of the Year Show, LIHS or RIHS in its second year it is de-noviced and cannot compete in the Kilmannan Final at Blair Final.

Class 59 - Veteran - open to any type 15 yrs plus
Class 60 - SHP/Show Pony 148 cms & under
Class 61 - Heavy Horse - open to any breed/type
